Published by Rizzoli and with contributions by globally renowned commentators, Rizzoli Publishing Swarovski: Celebrating a History of Collaborations in Fashion, Jewelry, Performance, and Design tells the extraordinary story of how Swarovski crystal became a prized creative ingredient used by designers and coveted brands around the world. This beautifully illustrated volume contains never-before-published contemporary and archive photographs charting the 120 year history of Swarovski’s creative collaborations, revealing how designers have been, and continue to be, inspired by Swarovski’s cutting-edge crystals.
VM were enlisted to create a film to celebrate the book’s global launch. Filming in London Los Angeles and New York, we secured fascinating interviews with eight of the book’s main contributors – Nadja Swarovski, Suzy Menkes, Deborah Nadoolman Landis, Charles Miers, Alice Rawsthorn, Deyan Sudjic, Colin McDowell and Vivienna Becker.
The book showcases a series of stunning couture looks by fashion houses such as Dior, Chanel, Prada and Alexander McQueen, who integrate Swarovski crystal into their collections season after season. It also presents unforgettable images illustrating how stage and screen legends such as Dietrich, Garbo, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson and Beyoncé have captured the crystal Zeitgeist by adding dazzling voltage to their looks with Swarovski crystals. Other highlights include design commissions from the New York Metropolitan Opera’s iconic Sputnik chandelier to large-scale installations by luminaries such as Zaha Hadid, Ron Arad and Yves Béhar.
VM’s film was distributed to press and key target media – and broadcast at numerous international launch events. In addition to being housed on SwarovskiGroup.com, bespoke short-form edits were created for social media amplification purposes.
